Weight Loss and Metabolic Control

We offer three personalized medical weight management programs administered by a board-certified family physician trained in obesity and bariatric medicine. Our programs are specifically tailored to meet individual needs, as we believe there is no ‘quick fix’ or a one-size-fits-all solution to weight loss. Whether your goal is to lose weight for cosmetic reasons or due to health problems related to obesity, our supervised programs will help you to develop a healthy, enduring change so that you can stop worrying about weight loss and start enjoying life.

Our Programs

Each of our programs offers customizable strategies for weight and healthy lifestyle management. We tailor our plans to help you reach your goals and offer individualized supervision throughout your journey. Each program includes:

  • Individual consultation with a physician at each visit
  • Body composition analysis
  • Dietary and exercise recommendations
  • Behavior modification, stress management and sleep tips
  • A personalized ‘Healthy Lifestyle’ guide book
  • NutriMed diet supplements (for purchase)*

*TNT and VLCD programs only.

Healthy Eating & Lifestyle Program (HELP)

The HELP Program promotes the development of healthy eating patterns and lifestyle changes for safe and steady weight loss. The program provides one-on-one lifestyle education as well as exercise and counseling to help you lose weight, improve your health and develop new skills and habits to manage your weight in the future. Some patients may be prescribed an FDA-approved appetite suppressant medication while on this program.

HELP is a six-month program. The first three visits are two weeks apart, followed by monthly visits. Average weight loss is one to two pounds per week.

Trim & Tone (TNT) Program

This six-week program is specially created to help overcome the abnormally slow metabolism of an obese patient or can be used to lower the body mass index (BMI) of someone who is only looking to shed 10 to 15 pounds. Patients will be prescribed specially formulated nutritional supplements high in protein and fortified with vitamins and minerals for use as meal replacements.  It is recommended that patients follow up with HELP for six weeks after completing the TNT program.

Very Low Calorie Diet (VLCD) Program

The VLCD program provides rapid weight loss for obese patients. Due to its intensity, a physician specially trained in bariatric medicine will monitor all VLCD patients. Patients are prescribed specially formulated nutritional supplements for use as meal replacements. The program provides one-on-one lifestyle education as well as exercise and counseling to help you lose weight, improve your health and develop new skills and habits to manage your weight in the future.

Prepare for your Visit

To get the most out of your initial consultation, before your first visit we suggest the following:

  • Laboratory testing - Comprehensive laboratory testing will help us assess your insulin resistance thyroid function and cardiac risk factors. Your primary care doctor can order these tests for you.
  • Fill out an Initial Health History form - Your primary care doctor can complete this for you.
  • Verify your insurance coverage - Your health benefits must be determined through your medical insurance plan prior to your first visit. Please contact your insurance provider and request a letter confirming any covered services related to medical weight management and counseling and bring this letter to your appointment. If your insurance plan does not cover medical weight management, please be prepared to pay for the services provided at the time of your visit. Please note that our office does not guarantee reimbursement by insurance companies, as most weight management services are not covered by insurance.
  • Prepare for the Body Composition Analysis - A Body Composition Analysis will be performed during your initial visit.
